Peter has a successful career in Agri Business. He manages farmland in Northumberland and Southern Scotland comprising 10,000 acres of arable cropping and renewable energy generation. He was a founding Director of a major cooperative, Tynegrain, now with an annual turnover of £250m and he has been Chairman of the Group since 2011.
Peter has always had an interest in local and regional affairs, having been Leader of Castle Morpeth Borough Council and Leader of Northumberland County Council. He was an active Board Member of the regional RDA, One NorthEast, from 2007 – 2012 as well as representing the Northumberland nationally on the Local Government Association.
Born and bred in the North, Peter has always felt that the North has much to celebrate and many reasons to be optimistic but recognises that there is still a need for a stronger voice on the national stage.
