Born in South Shields, educated in Sunderland and then onto Teesside University and Business School, Cath really does have the north in her heart.
Cath has over 30 years experience working in HR management and training, and more recently moved into communications and engagement, working for the then Member of Parliament for Carlisle in Cumbria.
Cath has a keen interest in arts, culture and heritage, and spent three years as the Cabinet Member for culture, sports and tourism at Northumberland County Council. During that time, she represented Northumberland on the Local Government Association Culture Sports and Tourism Board, and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Culture, Health and Social Prescribing and has held board positions on Active Northumberland, Northumberland Tourism, Northumberland National Park, Kielder Water and Forest Park, Queen’s Hall Arts and Hexham Community Partnership Development Trust.
Cath is proud of all the north has to offer, it’s traditions, it’s ideas, it’s heritage, it’s resilience, it’s strong work ethnic, it’s sense of community, it’s cultural richness. A region whose full potential is so often overlooked in Westminster.
Cath sees the north as an outstanding place to live, learn, work, visit and invest in and is determined to champion the region so that every opportunity for positive change is grasped and developed.
